Urban Land

Land-use map describes the existing purpose each plot of land serves and the location, distribution and total area of different land uses at the precinct level.

Floor space index (FSI) is an indicator of built density and expressed as the ratio of floor space (Built-up) to the plot area.

A figure-ground diagram illustrates the relationship between built and open space in precincts. Open spaces such as streets, parks, natural features and plazas are represented by white, while  black indicates buildings.

Nolli's map is utilized as a method to identify different types of public realm in students’ precincts. The map is then used to also analyze the degree of ‘public-ness’ basis access restrictions pertaining to gender, time, age and cost.

The Portfolio examines the functioning of the peri-urban precinct(Dilshad garden) which is located at the fringes of East Delhi and how it has transformed into a commercial hub after various chain of development like the development of metro rail which connected the precinct effectively with the citys core and how metro development also acted as the catalyst to boost the commercial development along with it. This study also focuses on how streets are emerging as public realm, as precinct lacks public spaces due to non-availability of land and how these factors combined make this an Atypical Precinct at the fringe which still has a stronghold in the residential market because of factors like connectivity and other services and facilities provided within close proximity.
